In the mid-1950s, Bemis Manufacturing Company expanded our toilet seats into a new distribution channel - retail. To sell seats in department, hardware and specialty chain stores, Bemis created a new product line and brand name known specifically for its style and design. The Mayfair brand was born, and the new line was marketed to housewares buyers throughout the Midwestern United States in the late 1950s. For Bemis, the launch of Mayfair signaled the birth of one of the bath industry's most well-known brands. Today, Mayfair can be found across the United States, Canada and Mexico at many popular retailers.
