The patented water-saving pulse flow control (US 6,354,572, CA 2,313,402) reduces the flow of water to the evaporative panel by 88% compared to standard flow through humidifiers. Ordinary flow through humidifiers without water metering technology can send up to 90% of water fed to the humidifier down the drain. The pulse control opens the water valve to soak the evaporative panel for 3 to 4 s. Upon saturation, the water valve is closed for 30 s to allow the water to evaporate without the waste of excess water flowing down the drain. This saves water without compromising performance, while maintaining all the benefits of flow through design. By restricting the water flow, the evaporative panel temperature is higher than ordinary flow through units. Higher surface temperature promotes evaporation, which means more humidity with less water. The humidifier includes anti water hammer device to protect against the potential of water-hammer from on/off water cycling.
